Sailing provides an ideal team building environment; for a yacht crew to be successful, crews must develop strong teamwork and a reliance on each other, many form lasting friendships and relationships.

Our team building days are ideally suited to those seeking opportunities to use their initiative, and experience in a real life situation; the decision making attributes of a team.

The itinerary is totally flexible and can be run as a stand-alone event or as a "bolt-on" to a formal team building programme

Before each event we will consult with you, our clients, to determine and agree the most relevant programme for your individual needs. For a new team this may be an informal day exploring basic team dynamics and interpersonal relations.

For the more established teams our programme can be focused on a number of areas namely: Leadership Skills, Communications, Teamwork, and Team Dynamics. We can also identify a programme which will focus on a particular team problem you have within your organisation.

A professional yacht racing crew is made up from a number of specialists working in total unison for a common goal, that being first over the finish line. A typical crew will have a Skipper, Navigator, Sail Trimmers, Foredeck, Pit and Rail crew. The yacht will only be successful if each member of the crew not only focus on their particular role but also work in close association with the rest of the crew, crew communication; and leadership are paramount.

We use this principle during our team building exercises, this could be as simple as hoisting the Main Sail or a more complicated exercise of completing a simple race course. The performance of the task is simply measured by the time each exercise takes.

As the team develops the exercises will be made more challenging, with each team member given the opportunity to skipper the yacht under the close supervision of the professional skipper.

All our skippers as professional Yachtmasters who have spent many years in senior managerial positions in industry or commerce.
